12 Sided Dice (8dot braille)
Description
A 12-sided dice labelled with numbers from 1-12 in Braille. The numbers are printed separately on small plates and then glued to the dice itself with superglue. The plates are labelled in 8 point Braille. A variant with 6 point braille is in the making. Update: Due to the rounded corners, a better rolling behaviour could be realised. This model was designed and tested as part of the 3D4VIP project.
Printing instructions and tips
Dice The dice is printed in two parts and then glued together with superglue. This way a better print quality can be achieved. Infill is necessary for the dice. A value of 4-5% is sufficient, whereby more infill contributes to a more stable dice and better rolling behaviour. It is sufficient to print the bottom with only 1-2 layers in order not to change the rolling behavior of the dice too much. Without a closed bottom layer, it is difficult to glue the two halves together. Plates Take care that the tiles don’t have an elephant foot. You should print them upright (0.15mm layer height). Depending on the printer and levelling of the buildplate, you may need a brim.
