Description

Human egg cell for teaching sexual reproduction

This model consists of a human egg cell with three separate layers (Corona Radiata, Zona Pellucida, and the cytoplasm and nucleus) and a small detachable sperm cell fecundating it (the center part of the egg cell has a little hole to plug the sperm cell in).
Each one of the three layers of the egg cell has a braille tag with a letter of the alphabet (A, B, C) corresponding to:

A - Corona Radiata
B - Zona Pellucida
C - Cytoplasm and nucleus

There's one file with all the elements of the model in it and four different files with each part of the model isolated.

Printing instructions and tips

This model is meant to be ~15 cm wide. Printing it smaller or bigger risks making the braille tags illegible.

To print all the parts in one go using the HumanEggCell_Complete file, a bed size of 26x26 cm is needed. You can also print the individual pieces one by one using the additional files.

Known issues

  • The pieces rotate a lot and dislike staying in place. This could be fixed by flattening a bit the bottom of the three layers of the egg cell.
