This print comes in 2 versions, a purely tactile protractor, and a combination tactile and LP protractor.
For the tactile protractor: The tactile ticks are every 5 degrees, with larger ticks at 0, 30, 60, 120, 150 and 180 degrees, long dashed line at 45 and 135 degrees and long solid line at 90 degrees.
There are two pin holes for securing the protractor along the base.
There are two sizes of arm. The short arm fits along the length of the base. The other juts out from the protractor on one side. Both have an arrow at one end.
For the tactile and LP protractor: The tactile ticks are every 5 degrees, with larger ticks every 10 degrees, and larger again every 20 degrees. Lines are labelled every 10 degrees, with the ‘even’ ones (20, 40, 60 etc) closer to the centre of the protractor.
The pointer side of the arm is shorter so all the numbers can be read. The other end has a whole through the middle, so the line of the angle can be lined up correctly.
These protractors were co-designed with teachers and VI students who wanted to be able to explore angles without the protractor getting in the way. So you need to use the rule of vertically opposite angles for measurement and drawing .
A video demonstrating how to use the protractors to measure angles.
